Is there a state park on Lake Norman?
Yes. Lake Norman State Park sits on the north shore near Troutman, with hiking and mountain-bike trails, a boat ramp and a lake swimming beach. Day use is free; the swim beach needs a daily swim pass, and it is seasonal, so check the park's page before you go.

Several club communities sit on the Mooresville peninsula and in Cornelius. They are pinned on the map below.
